Glassdoor: Mark Zuckerberg, Jeff Bezos get high approval ratings from employees; Steve Ballmer, not so much

Employees of Facebook, Google, Amazon and Apple pretty much approve of the job their CEOs are doing. Do Microsoft employees feel the same way about their CEO, Steve Ballmer? Not so much — at least according to the latest ranking of CEOs by Glassdoor.

Glassdoor is a jobs site that includes self-submitted, anonymous reviews on companies from what Glassdoor says are those companies’ employees. (The number of reviews for each company varies.)

Its 2013 list of highest-rated CEOs is based on the approval ratings from reviewers over the past year. Leading the list are Facebook’s Mark Zuckerberg and SAP’s Bill McDermott and Jim Hagemann Snabe, all with 99 percent approval ratings. Many of Microsoft’s other competitors also make the list: Google’s Larry Page with a 95 percent approval rating; Salesforce.com’s Marc Benioff with 94 percent; and Amazon.com’s Jeff Bezos and Apple’s Tim Cook with 93 percent.

Ballmer, meanwhile, doesn’t make the list. He appears to have a 47 percent approval rating. Reviews of the company on Glassdoor, meanwhile, still ding it for its stack ranking employee review system and its internal politics. But reviewers also give the company high marks for a generally good working environment, smart colleagues, salaries and benefits.
